For instance – building snow fortresses! Snowcastles are a superb novelty and are without any doubt one of the Shape Academy highlights this season. Snow-loving kids can now enjoy medieval winter adventures with different features like tunnels, slides and snowball targets. In the season of 2018/19 two castles are planned to be erected, one of them in Ehrwald and another one in Speikboden. The latter building was completed just recently. Let the winter knight fun begin!
All in all the Shape Academy is looking forward to 10 new Funslopes – half of them is built in Italy including the Funslope Valbella in Bormio, the Funslope Speikboden or The Beach – Funslope in Carosello 3000 Livigno. Covering over 1700 meters the tropical Funslope in Livigno is also the longest Funslope in the world! But the Shape Academy also oversees new Funslopes beyond the Italian border. Two new Funslopes at once are created in Hinterglemm - namely the Funslope U-Bahn and the Funslope Zwölfer. The ski area of Lenk is also excited about a new snow adventure.

We also serve racers! The three new Funcross runs in Alta Badia, Anzère and Canazei are perfectly made for chasing the feeling of flow! Two entrances at the Funcross la Para in Alta Badia double the racing experience. And there’s more to it than that, we introduce two new Kidsslopes in Flachau and Rastkogel.

For Freestyle – with this slogan QParks is bringing style to the European Alps since more than 16 years already. This message will now be spread in Hinterglemm too. The Snowpark U-Bahn is the first QPark that freestylers can also ride at night! The crew there is definitely facing a new challenge, but the highly motivated shapers will surely master this obstacle. Another highlight is waiting at Kreischberg this year. Our crew there helps building the World Cup setup. The Slopestyle World Cup will be the mega highlight this season at Kreischberg thanks to the Shape Academy’s work and effort. But these are not all the novelties yet: In Bormio and Livigno we build new snowparks and on top of that the Shape Academy supervises 4 new Familyparks!
But don’t forget about the existing projects like the Snowpark Alta Badia which has its 10th anniversary this season! For this reason, a true special is waiting there – namely the Special Obstacle. The best part of it? The riders decide how this feature is going to look like and of course descent prizes will be raffled again.
Snowparks? We love to build them. Funslopes and Funcross? For sure. Yes indeed, meanwhile even Snowcastles are among the Shape Academy’s field of expertise. But kayak tracks? This was something completely odd and new until the beginning of this season. Our crew in St. Anton was responsible for the course on which celebrities rode kayaks during the ProSieben Wintergames on December 14 and 15. What first looked like becoming a mud battle turned into a proper snow challenge! During the first days of the setup process the crew had to use hay bales as side barriers and plastic bags had to be worn over the boots for mud protection. But then it was puking layers and layers of fresh snow from the sky and the shapers had to start from scratch again. But thanks to the impressive work of the crew the track performed better than some of the celebrities in their kayaks.
The Shape Academy oversees 125 projects in total this year plus specials like the ProSieben Wintergames and World Cup at Kreischberg. There’s no doubt that the world’s biggest shape crew is expecting another successful winter. As always, find updates of our projects on our Instagram account and Facebook page!
