Shaping Dreams: Insights into the Season Kick-Off of the Shape Academy 2023/24
12.12.2023

The snow adorns the Alpine region, and the 2023/24 season has begun. For us, this means that the outdoor office of the Shape Academy is once again operating at full throttle. We're looking forward to a great winter and many exciting projects because our principle remains unchanged: "We create Fun Mountains!"

As soon as the first snow falls in the Alps, it's time for our crews to head out and start building. They will set up and maintain well over 100 facilities spread across five countries. To manage this, around 250 employees are hired by the Shape Academy. And this year, everything happened quickly: as soon as the first snowflakes fell, our technical leaders dispersed with their teams throughout the Alpine region. Sölden, Passo Tonale, Turracher Höhe, Bormio, and Mayrhofen – these are the initial areas where the construction of all facilities for this season began. By the end of November, the first crews arrived there and shortly after began their work. The outcome is impressive—within a very short time, the first snow parks are in perfect shape, Funcross and Funslope facilities are ready to be explored by young and old, and even the impressive playgrounds are set up, eagerly waiting to welcome the youngest winter sports enthusiasts.

Simultaneously, during the first weeks, the annual training for the new team leaders of the Shape Academy took place. They spent a few days together in Obergurgl, learned a lot of new things, and prepared themselves for the 2023/24 season. This ensures that our employees are more than ready for winter!

Although many of the crew members come from different regions and have diverse backgrounds, they all share the same passion: they all love the mountains and winter sports, with a strong fondness for freestyle. The outdoor office provides them the opportunity to turn this passion into a profession. "As a shaper, I can combine my passion for mountains with my job, learn new languages, and meet many cool people," enthusiastically reports Zana (26). She has been part of the Shape Academy for several years now and particularly appreciates the action-sport lifestyle that her job enables. For many employees, the outdoor office is the perfect opportunity to turn their hobby into a career, and those who desire all of this from their job will find the Shape Academy the right fit. The career path from a shaper to a technical leader has much to offer and opens up numerous possibilities in the freestyle and action sports domain. Let's be honest, what's better than spending a winter in the mountains, shredding a lot, and enjoying life outdoors? Probably not much else!
